Hellooooo September! Since it's Susan Wickersham's birthday this month, we decided to give a present to you: no charge side LEDs AND no charge continuous wood backplates. These options typically run $1400 and $1500 (for 3 backplates) so it's a great value. Besides looking cool, both are quite practical.
Side LEDs are the most frequently added custom option on our guitars and basses. We've been installing them on instruments since before we built them (when there was only one component available!). Over the years, we've continued to improve this feature, and they now have small sterling silver bezels around each LED so that even when not illuminated, you can clearly see your position markers. Choose from red, green, amber, blue, or violet.
Continuous wood backplates make sure you don't miss a square inch (or centimeter (or unit of your choice)) of the lovely wood on the back of your Alembic. They also can substantially reduce the weight over our traditional brass backplates. If your build has a Mahogany body without a back laminate, we can make the plates with matching Mahogany or from the same wood as the top - your choice!
