Thirty some odd years ago, the electric bass was relegated to life in the background. When Stanley Clarke hit the scene,
the possibilities for the electric bass were forever changed. The bass could take a break from its main role to take solos
of its own, even perform as a lead instrument through entire songs. Music has Stanley to thank for trailblazing the concept.
Back then we only offered Series I and Series II basses. We created the Signature Deluxe from the same body templates and
woods, with the same scale length as Stan’s personal Series I and II basses.
Even though the electronics are more simple than our top of the line Series II model, one item that Stanley insisted on for
his Signature bass was separate filters and Q-switches for each pickup. The ability to tailor the tone of each pickup
individually opens up a wide spectrum of available tones. A small rotation of our filter controls can make your Signature
Deluxe sound like an entirely different bass.
The Stanley Clarke Signature Deluxe comes standard with Coco Bolo top and back laminates. Many are surprised to learn that
the Stanley Clarke Signature Deluxe bass features a short scale length. It’s the very same scale length that we have been making
for Stan since 1972. The frets are naturally closer together compared to a long scale, which makes the bass incredibly
comfortable – and fast – to play. Fly even faster with the narrow taper fingerboard, new for 2008. The nut width is narrow at
just one and a half inches.
